The Don: every city has a price

Poster of the Don in a dark coat and hat, smoking a pipe: Every city has a price

Every city has a story. This one begins with a name nobody says twice.

The Don is the first of five faces in our new poster series for Underground Evolution. He is the man at the top of Vesper City: they sing for him, they lie for him, and even the law keeps his photograph pinned to the wall.

The Don, our first cinematic teaser. Also available in Spanish and Portuguese on our YouTube channel.

Every city has a price

In Vesper City, the Don sets it. Our teaser ends on one line that sums up the whole game: this city pays in respect. Money gets you through the door. Respect is what keeps you in the room.

How respect works in Underground Evolution

Nobody starts at the top. In the game you build respect the hard way: crimes that pay off, fights you win and a name people start to recognise. Respect is also what a family runs on.

  • Found or join a family. Gangs have custom ranks (Don, Underboss, Armorer, Treasurer, Soldier by default), a shared treasury and their own respect.
  • Grow together. Families level up as they go, with wings inside bigger gangs.
  • Coming soon: gang wars, pacts and alliances, and heists with a crew where everyone has a role.

Joining a family opens up early on, while founding your own comes later, once you have proved you can handle the city. Like every feature in the game, it unlocks by level, so new players learn the streets before they are asked to run them.

Behind the poster

The Don poster is number 1 of five in our Five weeks. Five faces. One city. series. Like the rest of the set, it is made in high-contrast black and white, lit like a 1920s crime picture, with one line to sum the character up: Every city has a price. Every poster comes in English, Spanish and Portuguese, and in versions sized for phones, feeds and print.

Want to see them all as they arrive? The posters land on our Discord first, together with the teasers, devlogs and news from the studio. New to the game? Start with Welcome to Vesper City.

Next week: the Kid

Every king was once nobody. Next week we meet the face at the other end of the ladder.
